Laura worked as a class teacher in Merseyside and Cheshire for 14 years, teaching across KS1 and KS2. She worked in a Cheshire West School from 2007 – 2019 where she held the role of Mathematics Subject Leader from 2009. During her role she led many large, whole school projects leading to a rise in progress and attainment.
Laura has been a consultant with First4Maths since 2019. She is passionate about the teaching and learning of mathematics and has a desire to see all children grow, develop and achieve their potential as confident and engaged mathematicians. Laura loves to share her enthusiasm and love of concrete resources (especially a beadstring) with teachers as part of her consultancy role with First4Maths. She believes strongly in enabling and empowering teachers to feel confident and take ownership of the teaching of mathematics in their own classroom.
